More Than a Line School

VOLTA — the Vocational Outside Line Training Academy — is a licensed, non-profit pre-apprenticeship program run by NW Line JATC. Unlike standalone line schools, VOLTA is structurally connected to the apprenticeship programs that train Pacific Northwest Journeymen.

Graduates aren't starting from zero. They're entering the hiring pool already known to NECA contractors and IBEW locals, the same organizations that run the apprenticeships they're trying to enter.

VOLTA offers students multiple opportunities to pursue positions in the outside electrical industry. This includes such skilled and semi-skilled positions as:

  • Apprentice Lineman
  • Apprentice Tree Trimmer
  • Equipment Operators for Digger/Derricks and Cranes
  • Line & Tree Crew Groundman
